Final Digipak

This is a photograph of our final front cover for the digipak. As you can see, it has some of the general conventions for an indie digipak. We downloaded a font as we felt the one we used (ALL AGES) would be more appropriate and look more indie than the original photoshop fonts. We put a parental advisory sign on the bottom left of the front cover, as our video contains some slightly bad language. I like the composition of where Ash is, to the left, as it looked a lot better than having him directly in the middle. The reason we chosen to have our digipak in black and white was because when we were doing our research we noticed that quite a few indie bands have their digipaks in black and white. It also looked better in black and white than colour, as in colour there was to much going on.

This image is of the back inside cover, (the disk impression) we thought this image would be suitable as a lot of our music video is filmed at the train station. We had to think of a different type of still shot to do though, as our front cover is also of the train station, and didn't want it looking too repetitive, so we came up with the idea of a close up. Again, this is in black and white to fit in with the indie genre. We didn't put any writing on this part of the digipak because we didn't think it would look write.

This is my favourite part of our digipak as it has all the conventions of a typical indie album cover. I edited the original photograph on photoshop and changed the effect to threshold to give it the kind of cartoon look it has. Again, we used the font 'ALL AGES' so the font on the back cover matched the front cover and because it fits in with our genre of music. We added a record label, barcode and iphone code to the bottom left of the image as well as the website and copyright protection. The reason we didn't number the tracks on the this part of the digipak is because we thought it would look to organised and not typically 'indie', it gives it a kind of edgy look.

This final image is of the inside front cover. We had to come up with something that fitted the typical indie theme. This is why we put a crushed can and a lighter in the photograph. I like that the image has a lot of texture and detail to it as it's a close up. Again we edited this photo but changing it to black and white and then increased the contrast to make the image stand out more and look more sharp. The reason it is in black and white is so it matched the rest of the digipak and keep it in with the typical indie theme.
